Dan Revel

Retired software engineer. Lifelong builder and learner.

After more than 40 years in software engineering, I have traded the full-time career for something more open-ended: learning new tools, building experimental projects, riding bikes, traveling, and following interesting questions wherever they lead.

These days, many of those questions are about artificial intelligence. I am exploring local language models, AI-assisted development, agent workflows, and what it means to build software in an AI-native world. I am especially interested in helping experienced engineers develop a practical feel for these tools without losing the judgment that comes from years of making real systems work.

Retirement, to me, is not the end of productive work. It is the chance to choose the work, set the pace, and leave room for curiosity.

What I am exploring now

Technology should help people create, learn, and enjoy life, not simply work faster.
